Lunch & Learn Series: Stories of Jewish Resistance. Fairfield University (exact location TBD. From the Maccabees and their fight against Hellenistic oppressors, to Crypto-Jews who secretly practiced Judaism in medieval Spain, to Jewish Partisan forces in Nazi Occupied Europe, to protests by Jewish Progressive Millennials today, the course will focus on religious, military, literary and political forms of Jewish resistance over the past 2,000 years.   Fridays, 8 sessions: Feb. 9-April 20, 2018. 12;30-1;45pm. Fee: $150 (includes sourcebook of class readings).  Co-sponsored by the Federation for Jewish Philanthropy and Fairfield University Bennet Center of Jewish Studies. Taught by Ellen M. Umansky, PhD.
